The Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management streamlines curriculum structures, teaching standards, and proficiencies, and assembles assessment and learning outcomes to meet the quality assurance program. Most of all, the program engages industry collaborations and partnerships to meet the tourism industry demand and surpass tourism challenges. With this, the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management prescribes its new vision, mission, and core values, amending the previous version.

Curriculum Structure and Competencies

In accordance with CMO No. 62, s. 2017, the tourism management curriculum comprises the major elements of tourism, travel, hospitality, and food service, including business management, as the primary allied fields in tourism and hospitality. Removing one or two components from the curriculum will be detrimental to the students' disciplines and interests.

The curriculum is divided into segments that demonstrate knowledge, skills, and values from a general perspective to a specific cluster, which is composed of common core, professional courses, professional electives, institutional courses, and proposed specialized electives that offer advanced, technical, and specialized studies.

Lifelong Learner

Engage in reflective practice to ensure disciplinal excellence and professional development.
Exhibit preparedness and interest for continuous upgrading of competencies required by the profession or area of specialization.
Manifest fidelity to the teachings of Christ, mediated by the Catholic Church, in the continuous deepening of faith and spirituality in dealing with new life situations and challenges.

Program Educational Objectives

PO1. Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific fields of practice.
PO2. Effectively communicate orally and in writing using English, Filipino, the mother tongue language, and an appropriate foreign language required by the industry.
PO3. Work effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
PO4. Act in recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibility.
PO5. Preserve and promote Filipino historical and cultural heritage (based on RA No. 7722).
PO6. Demonstrate knowledge of the tourism industry and local tourism products and services.
PO7. Interpret and apply relevant laws related to the tourism industry.
PO8. Observe and perform risk mitigation activities.
PO9. Utilize information technology applications for tourism and hospitality.
PO10. Manage and market a service-oriented business organization.
PO11. Demonstrate administrative and managerial skills in a service-oriented business organization.
PO12. Prepare and monitor industry-specific financial transactions and reports.
PO13. Perform human capital development functions of a tourism-oriented organization.
PO14. Utilize various communication channels proficiently in dealing with guests and colleagues.
PO15. Plan, implement, and monitor tours and sales activities.
PO16. Research, plan, and conduct various tour guiding activities.
PO17. Develop appropriate marketing programs and arrange the required travel services.

Program Intended Learning Outcomes

PO1. perform leadership skills in various areas of tourism through advocacy programs that aim to improve the quality of life of both local and global communities;
PO2. engage in meaningful collaboration, communication, and processing of information through technology to effectively perform assigned tasks in a diverse cultural environment;
PO3. apply analytical and quantitative skills to formulate business decisions producing quality research and business outputs that respond to tourism and hospitality issues and trends compliant with the laws of the society; and
PO4. demonstrate the ability to perform basic supervisory job functions, as well as entrepreneurial competencies, manifesting Christian values, in the tour, travel, leisure and recreation, and hotel and restaurant careers.

In addition, graduates of BS in Tourism Management Major in Travel and Operations Management should be able to create concrete plans for the different stakeholders through service learning, manifesting global innovations in varied forms of communication and collaboration (PO5-TOSM).
